3 WEEK Beginning Hand-building Series: Let’s Build Some Fruit!!
This series is geared towards teaching you the fundamentals of Hand-building and establishing a solid foundation for you to build upon. We will spend 3 classes on each process, 2 classes for building and 1 for glazing.
In the 3rd series of the Hand-building classes, we will focus on the reduction process and realism to make a beautiful piece of ceramic fruit. Reduction is an important technique in the foundation for clay construction. You will learn how to carve and reduce a solid piece of clay to render your sculpture of fruit. You will also learn about glaze possibilities and overall surface design to create a realistic surface. Expect to make an 8”-12” sculpture. All materials will be provided, including clay and a bright assortment of glazes. You will be able to access the open studio once a week for the duration of our 3 week period.
Class meets on Saturdays from 1pm-3:45pm on 10/4, 10/11 and 10/25 (We will skip 10/18 so I can get these fired)
