Beginning & Intermediate Wheel Throwing
This is a great class for anyone with little to no experience with clay, as well as those who are ready to build on their existing wheel-throwing skills!
Beginning Students
Beginning students will learn the sequential steps of throwing on the pottery wheel, including centering, opening, and pulling walls to create cylinders, bowls, and rounded vessels. You will also learn how to trim your forms and apply glazes.
Along the way, we’ll explore basic glaze chemistry and learn how to make more conscious aesthetic choices about form, surface, and color. You can expect to make approximately 10ish vessels during the session.
Intermediate Students
Intermediate students will take their skills further by working with larger amounts of clay and exploring forms such as plates and lidded vessels. You will continue developing your throwing skills while making more informed aesthetic and glaze decisions.
You can expect to make approximately 10ish vessels during the session.
What’s Included
This is a 6-week course, meeting for 2½ hours each week. Your class includes:
25 lbs. of clay
Basic studio tools
Studio glazes
Access to open studio hours throughout your 6-week session for additional practice and work time
Open studio time is uninstructed and is a great opportunity to practice, experiment, and let your hair down a little, put the pedal to the metal!
A Few Studio Notes
Students are responsible for cleaning their workspace and any tools or equipment they use during both class and open studio time.
The block of clay provided weighs 25 lbs., so please let me know before the first class if you need any assistance moving or handling your clay.

We are unable to offer refunds, transfers, or exchanges within 7 days of the start date for any reason.
Any refunds issued are subject to a 10% processing fee.
If I need to miss a class due to illness, I will schedule a make-up session.
If you need to miss a class, you are welcome to attend open studio hours for additional practice. Open studio is uninstructed time where you can continue working on what you’ve learned.
Please try not to miss the first class. It covers essential information, studio policies, and demonstrations that are foundational for your success.
